4th week

I went to my arrived at me internship around 10. and after a few minutes Jamaica and I went in the classroom to start the lesson. There were more than usual even though one student was missing, because a girl whom hadn't showed up the last two weeks came and a new girl showed up because her mother had mixed up her class schedules. the class was hyper due to the fact that it was the day after Easter. While the next class was tired because of the same reason. I arrived just as they were doing across the floor exercises and and began recording on my camera. the class was fine even though two girls weren't feeling well but the when they began freeze dacing with scarves, two girls ran into each other and one girl got smacked in the face with a scarf so Megan(the teacher) ended the class early just so there wouldn't be anymore accidents. after lunch there was the six year olds class which was rather small and after the class Megan guessed that the classes today would be small because some kids were on spring break and therefore had gone away for vacation. the same thing happened with the other two classes and in the last one there were only three girls. so Jamaica practiced with them on their dance moves because some of them were hard. I only helped with the music so i was the DJ which i was thankful for because i was very tired that day for some reason.

as a project i have decided that it is going to be about me helping Charles with his ballet because that is what i enjoy the most and it i have a slightly bigger role in that.but i will talk about the lessons as well.

project ideas

what i want to talk about in my presentation is the differences between children. because people don't know how much age matters when kids are young. and being an assistant teacher made me understand that. my other project would be helping my mentor with choegraphing his ballet. so i just want to talk about both of those things that i am doing at my internship.

3rd week

i arrived at my internship around 10, and i was planning to film so i went to the side of the class and began filming but my sister had taken a bunch of pictures that were completely useless so most of the class i sat at the side and deleted those pictures. i did get the stretches and some of their exercises though. so it was good overall, but because i realized that the capacity of the camera would not be enough to record all of the classes, so i decided that i would record a different class each week. i walked over to the 4 year olds class but i was a bit later than usual so all i did was help put mats on the floor for their ballet dance. after my lunch i went to the other studio not the main one, and helped with the 5 year olds class. I had to make sure they were starting the dances and exercises with the right feet and arm positions. i also helped with the 6 year old and 7 year olds class but there wasn't much i had to do so i was mainly sitting on the side and watching the classes. and i would do the music occasionally but that was it.

Day two or week two

My second day i arrived around the same time at about 9:40ish. there was some confusion at the beginning becasue Jamaica was not there, so another teacher Janelle took over until Jamaica came because she was late. that lesson went fine and the i walked over to the second studio and helped Megan with her class of 4 year olds. that class was over at about 11 so i went to the cafe that i go to and ate and read a lot. after a while i went back to the studio to talk to my mentor Charles about when i should help him with his rehersals. After break i got a ride with Megan to the other studio and learned that Virginia the head mistress requested that i wear more ballet like clothing. After the 5 year olds class was over Jamaica came and i helped her with her classes of 6 year olds and 7 year olds and then my mother came at around 5:20 and i went home.

first day

first day i arrived at the main studio a little late but as it turned out the class time had changed so i was actually right on time. so i met with the teacher i would be assisting, Jamaica, and we talked about what i would be doing. and i basically told her that i would be there to help her with whatever she needed. so we went in the class room, and i soon found out that this class was 5 year olds and there were only 6 or so of them. the class began with stretched on the floor and sometimes the teacher asked the girls questions like; "we're at the bottom of the ocean ok? and we're all sea creatures. what sea creature are you gonna be?" which meant when she came to me i had to say something like a dolphin but the most popular among that age group are pink mermaids. i helped with the class. when they were doing across the floor exercises i was at the other end of the room to make sure they went in the right direction. after that class which is about 30 mintues, i got a ride to the studio on 4th street which is about a 15-20 minute walk from the main studio. there i met the other teacher who was in the middle of another class which was the 4 year olds class, her name was megan, and she told me after her class was over that i would be assisting that class that just ended and her next class which was about 3 hours away. because the break was from 11 something to 2:45 when the next class began. during my break i walked to a cafe i used to go to ate and read there. i also saw my mentor who came to the same cafe. after a while i went back to the main studio and just hung out there and got a ride from megan to the other studio. i did not participate in this class either i just sat at the bench and watched how their classes worked. after that class which was the 5 year olds class. after that jamaica came and i was with her with the 6 year old and 7 year olds class. my day ended at 5:20 i went back to the main studio and left after that. i still have no idea of what to do for a project.
